Logistics Coordinator

NGK Automotive Ceramics USA, Inc. directly supports and supplies all major automobile and heavy duty diesel manufacturers with high-performance precision ceramic components for diesel and gasoline engine emission control systems.

NGK Automotive Ceramics, USA Inc. is seeking a Logistics Coordinator at our Novi, MI facility. The qualified candidate may be entry level with a Bachelors degree or a mid-level candidate with an Associates degree and experience in the Logistics field.

The Logistics Coordinator performs various logistical and clerical tasks to support the Logistics department. Responsible for performing routine clerical duties such as maintaining letters, e-mails, faxes and memos which all pertain to shipping and receiving. Responsible for both internal and external shipping documents, invoices, certificates and other indexed records according to the established system. Coordinates daily logistical operations, including inbound and outbound shipments, inventory control, order fulfillment, and distribution. Works closely with warehousing, procurement/planning and accounting as well as global group companies.

  1. Plans and schedules inbound and outbound shipments to internal or external customers.
  2. Receives orders and assigns shipments to proper warehouses and carriers.
  3. Receives commercial parts from domestic and overseas plants and maintains related paperwork and data input in the system, including shipping documents and invoices.
  4. Monitors daily inventory to ensure that product adjustments are properly applied by sharing order data with the planning department.
  5. Acts as liaison between customers, freight carriers, warehouses, plants and the planning department
  6. Ensures on-time delivery of goods to customers by investigating and resolving detention issues.
  7. Directs investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints.
  8. Assists with internal and external audits.
  9. Analyzes flaws in procedures, and reports and recommends to supervisor reasonable system modifications and improvements.
  10. Acts as an expediter to resolve delivery problems and implement improvements to the logistics system.
  11. Monitors costs by evaluating shipments, consolidating loads, and selecting most cost-efficient method of shipment, if necessary, and makes recommendations or suggestions to supervisor for possible improvement.
  12. Performs related and other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor.

 

Education:      Minimum Associated degree. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:    0-4 years of related experiences.

Skills/Aptitude:      

  1. Proficiency with MS Office, database, spreadsheet, and word processing skills.
  2. Knowledge of logistics, import/export regulations and procedures.
  3. Experiences in warehousing, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and learning the use of the computerized distribution system.
  4. Knowledge of TS16949 and/or JSOX preferred.
  5. Task oriented with strong sense of priority and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  6. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  8. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  9. Ability to deliver and receive positive and negative feedback in a professional manner.
  10. Accountable for individual goals and deadlines as well as have the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  11. Embrace a changing business environment.

Work Environment: Office environment. Overtime may be required to meet deadlines of assigned tasks. Some domestic travel.
