Product Engineer – Heavy Duty/Non-Road (Columbus, IN)

NGK Automotive Ceramics USA, Inc. directly supports and supplies all major automobile and heavy duty diesel manufacturers with high-performance precision ceramic components for diesel and gasoline engine emission control systems.

NGK Automotive Ceramics USA, Inc. is seeking a Product Engineer at our Columbus, IN facility.

*The first month of training will take place at our Novi, MI facility.  Following the first month of training, the candidate will be required to train at the Novi, MI facility one week per month until training is complete. The position will be permanently placed at our Columbus, IN facility.  



The Product Engineer will perform liaison function for product and technology areas, within the Heavy Duty/Non-Road team based in our Columbus, Indiana office.. The Product Engineer will have knowledge of the products to facilitate all aspects of goals, customer inquiries, communications, reporting, technical service, investigations and competitor research. Focus will be on supporting and facilitating product testing/evaluation for customer programs.



1.     Assist with the design, select and maintain critical information on products and technology.

2.     Maintaining quality and timeliness of answers to customer inquiries, problems and/or complaints.

3.     Perform liaison function on product and technology issues and obtain approval on strategy. Assist communication between NAU members and such group companies.

4.     Monitoring of competitor products and technologies.

5.     Produce timely issuance of technical service reports and the proper dissemination of information.

6.     Conferring with other members in the Business Management team, perform in-depth research for customer’s future technology requirement and develop proposals on appropriate products and technology.

7.     Work with NAU Lab and external testing facilities to coordinate engine bench tests and lab facility testing as well as its analysis and simulation.ttt

8.     Works with the Chief Technology Officer, Product Engineering Manager, Product Engineering Deputy Manager and VP.

9.     Assist in the development of NGK proposals including supporting technical data and prototypes samples.

10.  Participate in product and technical preparation and plan its introduction for evaluation throughout customer projects.

11.  Participate in investigation results of evaluated parts to meet customer’s desired goal.



Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent, Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience: Recent graduate to 4 years with direct experience of powertrain/emissions engineering or similar position(s). Experience of mobile Heavy Duty on Non-Road industry is desirable.

Skills/Aptitude:  Excellent project management skills, Effective oral and written communication skills, Excellent inter-personal and presentation skills.

Work Environment: Office and testing environment. Overtime may be required to meet program/project deadlines. Physically able to participate in presentations, and meetings. Domestic and International travel is required.
